Looks like Turquoise-colored Howlite The “Turquoise” in this necklace looks like Howlite that has been dyed turquoise color – not genuine Turquoise. It’s a very common practice that jewelery-makers interchange Turquoise and dyed Howlite and call both Turquoise even though the Howlite is much less expensive. View CommentBeautiful!!! This is really a beautiful piece of jewelry. I can’t believe they are selling it at this price. I do wonder where they got the 48″ though. I would guess it is about 24″-28″ but haven’t measured it. In any case, it is gorgeous. The stones are all very nice, both pearls and turquoise. The veins in mine are not as dark as those in the picture but enough for the needed contrast. The toggle hook and silver colored beads look nice and complement the pearls and stones. The stones are a mineral called Howlite NOT plastic. Howlite is a white stone with grey veining and is frequently dyed a turquoise color. The small amount of silver is actually silver-tone.
